Playground for Everyone

There is a playground in Tauphaus Park in Idaho Falls that is handicap accessible. There are full body swings with shoulder straps, rails wide enough for wheelchairs, ramps from ground level... it's pretty sweet! Now every kid can play.

People can be awesome when they try.
See you at the playground

Montmorency Falls

Montmorency Falls
Montmorency Falls is a beautiful waterfall where the Montmorency River tumbles over the cliff into the St. Lawrence River. It is located 7.4 miles (12 km) outside of Old Quebec City, Canada. This waterfall is 275 feet tall (84 meters) and 150 feet wide (46 meters). It is a spectacular site.

The waterfall is located near a quaint little neighborhood surrounded by the beautiful forest of the Laurentian Mountains. Montmorency Falls is accessible by public transportation. It is the last bus stop of the route. Don't be surprised if you get off the bus and can't see the waterfall at first. It's only a short walk down a small path. You will, however, be able to hear it so follow the sound. You walk down the path and suddenly... there is it. It is really breath taking. I remember my mom asking me if I was sure we were in the right place when we stepped off the bus. We walked down the trail and boom there it was. She was behind me and I remember her saying "Whoa... oh wow."

There is a suspension bridge at the top of the falls allowing those who are daring enough to cross it to get a true view of just how huge this waterfall real is. There is also a crazy staircase clinging to the cliff alongside the falls. Follow these stairs and you can walk down the entire length of the waterfall. Don't forget your camera because wherever you point it, it is going to be a fabulous picture. It had better be a waterproof camera though and I recommend a raincoat. The mist and splash from the falls have quite a reach but it just adds to the fun. Oh and one more thing, it's one heck of a stair-climber exercise on the way back up. Totally worth it though.

If you are not feeling the urge to take on the stairs don't worry there is an aerial tram. Just follow the boardwalk path through the trees. This does cost a little money but again the views are incredible.
If you ever find yourself in Old Quebec City, jump on a bus and check out this waterfall. Definitely one of mother nature's masterpieces.

I'd Like a Cookie

I walked into my patient's room and gathered up what was left of his dinner tray.
"Is there anything else I get for you?" I asked before leaving the room.
"Yeah, I think I'd like a cookie," he said.
I glanced at his chart to check which diet the doctor had ordered for him.
"It says here you are diabetic so I actually can't get you a cookie," I sadly replied.
"Does it also say there that I'm 80?" he asked.
I thought about it for a second.
"We have sugar cookies, oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip," I replied.
"I'll take a chocolate chip," he answered with a smile and a nod.

This guy had worked hard, stayed active and been healthy for 8 decades. He was 80 yet looked 60. Even though he had diabetes for the last half of his life he was the fittest patient on the floor. I think he had earned his right to have a cookie. Good life lesson.

Riddle of the Week

As I was going to St. Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits.
Kits, cats, sacks and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?

(One, me)

I am the one you met

I am the one whose name you will not remember.
I am the one whose face you will not recall.
You met me on the worse day of your existence.
I am the one who beat your heart for you when you could not.
I am the one who caused you pain so you could live to feel joy.
You met me because something went wrong.
I am the one who comforted your family when you couldn't.
I am the one who cried for you when no one was looking.
You met me unwillingly.
I am the one you will never thank.
I am the one who doesn't expect it.
You met me the day you didn't die.
I am the one who doesn't want to know your name.
I am the one who will never forget your face.
You met me when you least expected it.
I am the one you will not recognize when we pass in the street.
I am the one you never wanted to meet.
You met me when you were dead.
I am the one who knew what to do.
I am the one who did CPR on you.
We met at just the right time.

Who am I?
